Treating the body with natural healing sources have been practiced for thousands of years. During this retreat we will experience the healing powers of nature in various ways, slow down our pace and enjoy the best of what the Mediterranean has to offer. Thermal spring baths, mud-baths, lighter hiking in beautiful nature trails, river-side walking and if you wish, calm river-rafting. Discover hidden gem-beaches for an afternoon swim or try a yoga class (also for beginners). Combining this with local delicacies and a visit to a winery with wine-tasting and you are guaranteed a full body experience.

You will come back refreshed and empowered, full of new impressions.

In a nutshell

Our base is the city of Kavala. Situated at a gulf on the north Aegean sea shore, Kavala is also ‘hugged’ by mountains around. Here lies the golden section, the middle distance to everywhere: mountains peaking over 2100m high, thermal SPAs, little gems like Thasos Island, rivers and impressive waterfalls, and a broad selection of local delicacies in cute taverns.

Having one day without longer road trips is essential. We want everybody to do something for themselves, take a pause from our joined activities, reflect.

Example schedule in detail

Arrival day: We pick you up at the airport of Thessaloniki or Kavala. We drive to the hotel and have a relaxed afternoon and evening. If you plan to arrive on an earlier date, we’ll happily help you arrange accommodation, if possible in the same hotel you’ll be staying at. Dinner together

Day 2: Have you ever covered yourself in mud? Today is the day: the organized SPA - the mudbaths of Lydia are renowned for their healing properties. Visit to one of Greece’s largest and most impressive cave, or alternatively visit to a milk factory, where goat yoghurt, butter and cheese is produced. Afternoon stroll in Kavala and dinner together in a tavern at the traditional wooden-boat shipyard.

Day 3: Visit to a byzantine monastery, “buried” in cypresses in the valley between two high summits. Visit to one of Greece’s most valued thermal springs, and short walk to an impressive waterfall. Lunch together. Free evening

Day 4: Free day. Optional afternoon yoga class at a sandy beach. Dinner together at a fishtavern by the sea.

Day 5: The water trail: light walk along the stream of the Old Kavala village and optional extension to a waterfall. Alternative moderate level hike starting from Kavala city to meet the others at the village of Old Kavala. Dinner together

Day 6: Visit to one of Greece’s most important rivers, Nestos. Light walk along the river valley. Optional river kayaking. Afternoon walk to the old town and the byzantine fortress of Kavala. Dinner together

Day 7: Morning swim at the famous Ammolofoi beaches (sand dunes). Visit to one of the region’s wineries and wine tasting. Lunch together in a fish tavern at a long sandy beach

Day 8: Transport to the aiport(s). Depending on when your flight is leaving, we will have a breakfast together. We will happily assist you to extend your visit, if you wish, before you arrive or during your stay.

As stated above, the prices do not include your flight tickets to and from Greece. Included in the event fee is airport transportation as follows:

  • Pickup from Thessaloniki (SKG) or Kavala (KVA) airport.

  • Thessaloniki airport: We will pick up if you arrive on the arrival day or one day earlier. We will try to pick you up in Thessaloniki if you arrive after the arrival day, or we will help you book an easy and fast trip to Kavala by bus (takes ~2hrs).

  • Kavala: We will pick you up if you arrive on the arrival day or one day earlier. We will try to pick you up in Kavala if you arrive after the arrival day. Otherwise, getting a taxi or bus to Kavala takes just 30’

The most common ways of travelling to Kavala:

  1. Flight to Thessaloniki (SKG) and then Bus to Kavala. There are regular flights on a daily basis from most European capitals and other major cities. An intercity bus departs every hour from Thessaloniki to Kavala, up to 22.00, daily. It takes 1hr from the airport to the bus station with a city bus (30’ with a taxi), and 2hrs from Thessaloniki to Kavala.

  2. Flight to Kavala (KVA). Less frequent flights from abroad, at least 1 daily flight from Athens.

  3. Buses from Athens and Thessaloniki. Frequent timetables with 2 buses daily from Athens and several from Thessaloniki.
